As an interventional pain physician, most of my patients have severe metabolic dysfunction. Metainflammation and the cascade of chronic disease states that emanate from it must be treated simultaneously, as the patient's chronic pain issues. Failing to address the metainflammation results in symptom recurrence. Simply telling a patient to change their lifestyle has no real long-term likelihood of success, most often they have already tried multiple times prior to being seen in our clinics. We use a comprehensive, individually tailored approach that is keto oriented.

Satchin Panda, PhD, is a full professor in the Regulatory Biology Department at the Salk Institute for Biological Studies. He is interested in understanding the molecular mechanisms of the biological clock. The biological clock, or circadian oscillator, in most organisms coordinates behavior and physiology with the natural light-dark and feeding cycles. His laboratory uses genetic, genomics, biochemical, and behavioral approaches to identify genes under circadian regulation in different organs and to understand the mechanism of such regulation. His lab also tries to characterize the mechanism by which the circadian oscillator is synchronized to the natural light-dark condition. In addition to his molecular work, Dr. Panda is also very interested in how molecular understanding of circadian rhythms translates to the real-world. He and his team designed the myCircadianClock app to get an understanding of our society’s lifestyle: when, what, and how much we eat, sleep, and move. With enough subjects, he hopes to test the benefits of time-restricted feeding under different conditions of sleep, activity, and disease.

At the age of 11, I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes after arriving at the hospital tired and groggy. My blood sugar reached an astronomical value. Dealing with diabetes as a child was complex and full of learning. Over the years I believed that "I can eat anything and it will be fine" - of course I was wrong. Several years ago I ended up in the intensive care unit due to life-threatening acidosis after drinking alcohol while ignoring my blood sugar levels. After leaving the hospital I committed to myself to take responsibility for my health and my body And I managed to balance my blood sugar as well as the other indicators by combining a careful diet, training in the format of 'training in less than 20 minutes' and meditations. This combination led to a significant improvement in all the indicators and in the levels of energy and concentration. I am happy for the privilege of passing on the knowledge I have gained and There is no doubt that this knowledge is relevant to anyone who strives for optimal health.

Dr. Paredes has been working with patients and athletes since 2015. His practice is focused on helping people invest in their health in the broader sense of the term by developing diet/ exercise programs as well as individually designed life coaching with the aim of helping patients life with the minimum necessary amount of medical care. The idea is to be independent and empowered as much as feasible and only leverage the more traditional medical interventions (surgeries, medications, etc.) for those things that truly need it. In 2024 he founded Olympus Health PLLC, a virtual direct primary care and lifestyle medicine clinic, in order to more effectively work with his patients.

Dr Rhonda Patrick did her graduate research at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital where she investigated the link between mitochondrial metabolism, apoptosis, and cancer. Her groundbreaking work discovered that a protein that is critical for cell survival has two distinct mitochondrial localizations with disparate functions, linking its anti-apoptotic role to a previously unrecognized role in mitochondrial respiration and maintenance of mitochondrial structure. Her dissertation findings were published in the 2012 issue of Nature Cell Biology.
Dr. Patrick trained as a postdoctoral fellow at Children’s Hospital Oakland Research Institute with Dr. Bruce Ames. She investigated the effects of micronutrient (vitamins and minerals) inadequacies on metabolism, inflammation, DNA damage, and aging and whether supplementation can reverse the damage. In addition, she also investigated the role of vitamin D in brain function, behavior, and other physiological functions. In February of 2014 she published a paper in FASEB on how vitamin D regulates serotonin synthesis and how this relates to autism.
Dr. Patrick has also done research on aging at the Salk Institute for Biological Sciences. At the Salk she investigated what role insulin signaling played in protein misfolding, which is commonly found in neurodegenerative diseases... Continue reading

My low carb, high fat consulting credentials are completely self-taught.
I first began educating myself regarding Keto Adaptation when my Mother was diagnosed with a terminal Glioblastoma Multiforme brain tumor. The prognosis was 6 months to live. This prompted me to take an aggressive approach to learn ways to slow cancer growth. I dramatically lowered her carbohydrate intake and raised her dietary fats exponentially. Immediately my mother’s cancer growth stopped. She is now in her 7th year of being cancer free.
After my Mother’s cancer remission from a low carb and high fat diet prescription, I began to apply the Nutritional Ketosis principles on myself. With success I was able to enter and maintain Ketosis and enjoyed incredible health improvements.
After experiencing the incredible benefits of Ketosis myself, I applied these low carb and high fat principles on my closest friends. The success stories of better health continued in people around me. My next approach was my personal training clients. In a 2 year time period I was able to Keto coach 8 subjects with 100% improvement in their weight loss and health goals. Continue reading...

I explain my 5-year quest to find diet and lifestyle solutions to common metabolic issues.
At our ProLongevity clinic we use continuous glucose monitoring, or CGMs, attached to your arm, which we monitor over an app for two weeks. We establish which foods are healthy for you as an individual and which are not and then recommend a set of sustainable lifestyle and dietary adjustments unique to you. We call it “Precision Nutrition” (You are what you eat!).
