Jim Abrahams, born on May 10, 1944, in Shorewood, Wisconsin, is an American film director and writer renowned for his work in the comedy genre, particularly through collaborations with Jerry and David Zucker. The trio, known as ZAZ, created iconic comedy films such as "Airplane!" (1980), "The Naked Gun" series, "Top Secret!" (1984), and "Ruthless People" (1986), all of which became classics in the genre. Abrahams also achieved success with solo projects like "Big Business" (1988), "Welcome Home, Roxy Carmichael" (1990), and the "Hot Shots!" series (1991, 1993), which parodied action films.
In 1993, Abrahams' life took a personal turn when his son Charlie was diagnosed with epilepsy. After conventional treatments failed, Abrahams discovered the ketogenic diet, a high-fat, low-carbohydrate diet used to treat epilepsy since the 1920s. In 1994, he founded the Charlie Foundation to promote the diet as a treatment for epilepsy, aiming to raise awareness and support families dealing with the condition. The foundation has been instrumental in reviving interest in the ketogenic diet, funding research, and providing education.
Abrahams produced the TV movie "First Do No Harm" (1997), starring Meryl Streep, to dramatize a family's discovery of the diet for their child with epilepsy, significantly raising public awareness. Through his contributions to comedy and his advocacy work with the Charlie Foundation, Jim Abrahams has left a lasting impact both in the entertainment industry and in the lives of families affected by epilepsy.
Jim Abrahams' work in comedy has left an indelible mark on the film industry, with his films continuing to be celebrated for their humor and innovation. His efforts with the Charlie Foundation have provided hope and solutions for countless families facing the challenges of epilepsy, showcasing his dedication to making a difference both on and off the screen.

Dr. Don Agcopra is a board-certified adult neurologist and a Fellow of the Philippine Neurological Association (PNA). He first encountered low carbohydrate and whole-food nutrition and delved deeper into the biochemistry, physiology and pathology of metabolic health after he himself realized that he had developed Insulin Resistance/Metabolic Syndrome. With a very low carbohydrate ketogenic diet (VLCKD) regimen admixed with Intermittent Fasting (IF) as well as episodic high intensity interval training (HIIT) exercises, he successfully deprescribed himself from medications and managed to put all his Metabolic Syndrome manifestations into remission. As a neurology consultant seeing and getting referred a lot of stroke patients day in and day out, he eventually noted that the greatest majority of the patients he gets to encounter in his medical practice, particularly those belonging to the cerebrovascular disease spectrum, are mostly atherosclerosis-related complications related to the Metabolic Syndrome/Insulin Resistance. Following his own example and personal experience, he now manages a lot of his Metabolic Syndrome patients using medically-managed therapeutic dietary intervention with great success. He also publicly advocates for the remission of the Metabolic Syndrome, along with its associated manifestations of Type 2 Diabetes, Hypertriglyceridemia, Obesity and Hypertension, using non-pharmacologic therapeutic dietary interventions through his website (www.LowCarbHealthMD.com and www.LowCarbNeurologist.com), social media portals in YouTube, Facebook, Instagram and Twitter, as well as Podcasts in Apple, Amazon Audible, Google, Anchor Spotify and Stitcher, all under the “Low Carb Health Doctor | LCHD” branding. He graduated from University of the Philippines - College of Medicine with a bachelor degree in Basic Medical Sciences (BS BMS) and Doctor of Medicine (MD), became a medical board examinations top-notcher, and subsequently trained in Adult Neurology at the Department of Neurosciences of the UP-Philippine General Hospital (UP-PGH). He is currently based in Cagayan de Oro, Philippines.

For as long as I can remember, sugar had a hold on me. My earliest memories are held around the dessert consumed at life events. Even as a kid I was negotiating my second serving before my first bite. I thought I was getting away with my dessert-only diet because my weight was under control...thinking that was the measuring tool for my sugar binges. I knew I hated those out-of-control episodes where I could not stop until I was too sick to continue, or everything was gone. Each time was more terrifying and traumatic than the last, a total free fall into the abyss with no end in sight. I looked for answers in every diet known to man, which ultimately only exacerbated the addiction.
It wasn’t until I discovered the science behind food addiction, and how sugar is 10 times more addictive than cocaine, that I finally understood what was happening in the brain. Now I knew where to start, and how to control blood flow to my frontal lobe, as well as skills to keep my noggin calm, a key in recovery.
For me, the ultimate goal in recovery maturity is the application of skills, which leads to impulse control, and that is where freedom is found. I have finally been able to manage my weight for several years without weighing. I have reached my goal through a combination of nutrition, movement (shifting from heavy cardio to more weight training), sleep and relationships.
This gift is available to all, I want everyone to have what I have, no one should suffer needlessly. Join me, won’t you!?
